misuse和abuse有何分别？

(1) misuse即use incorrectly or improperly，或treat badly，意为“错用”，或“滥用”；“虐待”，或“苛待”，例如：

This word is frequently misused.

此字常遭误用。

Politicians misused public money on entertaining their business friends.

政客滥用公帑，招待生意伙伴。

He felt misused by his agent.

他觉得受到经理人的苛待。

(2) abuse即use wrongly or improperly，或treat in harmful way，意为“滥用”，或“虐待”，语气较misuse强些，例如：

Politicians abused their privileges to make themselves rich.

政客滥用特权以自肥。

My father abused us for years.

家父虐待我们好多年。

(3) abuse尚有insult或revile之意，表示“毁谤”或“辱骂”，此类意思为misuse所无，例如：

I ask him to desist from abusing me in private to newspaper editors.

我要求他不再在私下向报馆编辑毁谤我。(陆谷孙《英汉大词典》)

Journalists covering the case have been threatened and abused.

报道该案的新闻记者遭恐吓、谩骂。(《牛津高阶英汉双解词典》第六版)

簡單理解： misuse 就是誤用（錯誤的使用，subject可能犯傻X，暈菜的結果導致的錯誤）， abuse就是濫用（subject 故意起膩的結果），這樣好記憶一些，沒辦法，腦子小，記不住。
